What is Ayurveda?

Meet Parvati, Clinical Ayurvedic Practitioner, CCA

Ayurveda, or the Science of Life, is yet another Vedanga or spiritual science which came forth through the fantastic ShirSagar epoch depicting the churning of the celestial ocean of milk (our Milky Way galaxy). From this churning not only ultimately sprang the nectar of immortality (Amrita), but also the Divine Physician himself, Lord Dhanvantari, from whom the great sage Charaka learned this divine science of life, longevity and immortality. All the knowledge of the primordial eternal energies (5 elements/Pancha MahaBhuta), and the three distinct inherent divine vibrational frequencies or qualities (the Gunas) is contained within this body of knowledge. It teaches us the structure, qualities, and effects of the primordial foundations of all life in this reality on our planet earth and beyond to our true nature of divinity.

Ayurveda teaches us that the root cause of all disease is forgetting our true nature as Spirit. Its aim is to guide us back to awareness of how our actions or karmas affect our entire mind body being. And with greater awareness, the mind and body can be given the appropriate conditions to heal itself through its inherent divine wisdom… the wisdom of Life itself. This is the ‘sadhana’ of Ayurveda; the study and practice of mastery over One’s intake, both through physical intake into the body (food, etc) as well as sensory intake into the mind (consciousness and the impact from the five senses). Through refining One’s awareness and taking enlightened actions based on this wisdom, our physical, mental and spiritual healing begins. It bestows us the knowledge of our interconnectivity by applying the rules of vibrational qualities, the inherent properties of the elements and of consciousness itself.
