This is a very powerful New Moon because it is happening in Moons exaltation star/nakshatra of Krittika, which literally means “to cut”. This Nakshatra is ruled by the Sun as well. As both of the luminaries conjunct here it gives us all power and support in clearing away and cutting the chords, so that we may be liberated from that which has been holding us back. Shortly after this New Moon we will have Jupiter conjoining Rahu, giving us the boost or impulse to start a new phase of expansion. The things we are able to cut out of our lives include all dimensions of our reality, especially deep, psychological thoughts and habits that we have been struggling with for some time regarding our security or value.
On this New Moon we will also be celebrating Shani Jayanti, or the day to venerate Lord Saturn. Saturn is the planet that delivers us our karmas in this life. Therefore, by celebrating him this day, we are literally giving Saturn gratitude for helping us to grow and evolve throughout life. In India our ancestors are traditionally worshiped this day as we honor all that they worked for in order to give us.
